2009-2010 Season

Rules and Regulations

Washington County Hunting Club
Rules and Regulations
2009- 2010 Hunting Season

  1. All Georgia hunting regulations must be complied with except where club rules are more restrictive.  Example:  Only raccoons may be hunted at night.  No night hunting for hogs with a 6 volt light is permitted.
  2. Membership fee depends on number of memberships.  At 45 memberships, the fee is $2000.00 per member.  In the event that 45 memberships are not sold, current members must share the remaining costs.  A partial payment of $600 is required by March 1 and the remaining $1400.00 are due by June 1.  When a member makes a payment, that payment is non refundable except that a majority of the directors. Officers vote to refund the part or all of the payment if it is in the best interest of the club or the club fails to have enough members and then any unspent funds will be distributed to the members on a percentage basis based on the amount previously spent and the amount that the member has paid to the club. At 1:00 PM on Saturday March 7, a list of non-paid members will be read at the clubhouse.  Those members’ stands will be available to any paid member on a seniority basis.  If more than one member wants the same stand, the senior member has first choice.  If two members have the same seniority, another fair method may be used to determine who gets the stand.  After Saturday March 7, unmarked stands may be marked on a first come, first serve basis.  No member may move his marker to a non-returning member's marked area prior to the announcement and stand awarding on the above date.  Members must be present to claim a new stand.  Members marked areas must be clearly marked and upgraded with (09-10) by April 1st.  Failure to upgrade the markings on your stands can result in your losing your marked areas.
  3. A member's son or daughter must apply for membership at age 18 or upon graduation from high school.  Wives and children may hunt in a member's marked stand.  Deer or turkey killed by wife or children count against the member's limit.  A member’s adult child may accompany the member hunting small game including ducks, squirrel, and rabbits at no guest fee.
  4. A basic membership includes not more than two clearly identified still hunting areas/stands.  No member may place his stand within 350 yards of an existing identified stand.  Members are to identify the stand in the area they hunt with their name and stand number (either 1 or 2) which establishes the radius point for 350 yard distance measurement.  Members may purchase additional stands/ areas for $700.00 each.
  5. Guest fee for deer and turkey hunting is $50 per day for first two visits and $100 per day on third and each visit thereafter.  Guests are limited to one antlerless deer and one turkey per season.  Members may bring guests deer hunting after Nov 15th and turkey hunting after the second weekend of turkey season.  Deer and turkey taken by a guest does not count against a member’s limit. All guests will be accompanied by and closely supervised by the sponsoring member and that member is responsible for the guest’s actions. Sponsoring members will advise guests of all club rules prior to hunting. Members are responsible for sighing guest in and out BY NAME at the clubhouse. Guest fee for hunting hogs and other small game is $50.00 per day.
  6. All hunters must sign in and out at the clubhouse on the roster provided.  Kill reports are required for deer, turkey, and hogs.  Failure to report deer and turkey killed is reason for membership termination.
  7. No hunting over bait.  DNR rangers will be provided gate keys.  State rules apply where baiting is concerned. That is, a hunter may not hunt within 200 yards or within sight of a feeder or bait.
  8. Archery hunting is allowed per state regulations and seasons.  A member must hunt his marked stands or any unmarked area.  In no case may an archer hunter hunt another member's marked area without permission.
  9. Hogs may be hunted all year with no limit.  No hunting hogs over bait or within 200 yards of supplemental feeder.  Hogs that are shot must be removed and disposed of properly.  No night hunting of hogs is allowed.
  10. Overnight guests at the clubhouse must check with Lewis.  Cleanup of the clubhouse is the responsibility of the overnight guest.
  11. No large nails or spikes may be driven in any trees.  No trees may be cut or damaged per the lease agreement.
  12. Food plots prepared by and at the expense of the club may be hunted by any member on a first come first serve basis with a portable stand.  No member may place a marked stand within 350 yards of a club food plot.  Exception:  If a marked stand existed prior to establishment of the food plot, it does not have to be removed.
  13. Members not showing up for workday will be charged $100.  Members must bring tools to work with, be at the clubhouse at 7:00 AM and check with club president to counted present.
  14. ATV use is restricted to recovering game and short rides where it is more practical to ride an ATV than a truck.  No recreational riding on an ATV is allowed.  No motorcycles are allowed on the property.
  15. QDM rules are discontinued. State rules and regulations apply to deer hunting with regard to number of bucks and does killed by a member, member’s spouse, and member minor children.
  16. Gates will be closed each time member goes through.  Failure to close gates when going through will result in disciplinary action if you are caught.  Everyone should have a key to the gates. Driving around locked gates can cause loss of membership.
  17. Duck hunters and small game hunters hunting during deer season will communicate with members that have marked deer stands in the area being hunted.  Members have marked stands off Stephens Creek Road that are near the beaver pond of Floyd's Creek.  Other members have marked stands around Chalker within 350 yard of the beaver ponds.  Please coordinate with them before hunting the area.
  18. Turkey hunters may hunt any area on a first come first serve basis but may not sign in before 4:00 AM.  Turkey hunters will use dog hunting stand numbers to identify the area they are hunting and will stay within three stand numbers in any direction.  Clearly describe the area you are hunting on the sign-in roster so other hunters will know where you are hunting.  If you decide to hunt another area, you must return to the clubhouse and sign out and in on the new area, provided another hunter is not hunting that area.  Turkey hunters may not ride the roads, listen for a bird and then begin to hunt that area.  After second weekend of turkey season, a member may bring one guest per day.  Guest fee is $50 per day for the first two days and $100 for each day thereafter.  A guest is limited to one gobbler per season.  Guest must be accompanied by the member as the guest does not know the area and the member is responsible for the guest.
  19. Rules are to govern and maintain order in the club and among its members.  A good member respects other members' rights and the club will continue to prosper under the practice of the "Golden Rule".  A high standard of hunter ethics and sportsmanship are expected of each member.
  20. A majority of the club officers to include President, Vice-President and Directors will decide disciplinary action when necessary.  Club officers are Lewis Todd, President; D.L. Hitchcock, Vice-President; and Directors:  Ralph Poole, John May, Barry Roberson, and Kenny Daniel.
